UPDATE 2023-08-29

Our policy on mask mandates has changed and we are mask friendly. Masks are no longer required in any area where programs are delivered, unless the individual wishes to wear one. However, when receiving one-to-one direct client care, clients (or their substitute decision maker) can request that staff or volunteer wear a mask when providing support. Air purifiers will continue to be used and passive screening protocols are in place. Should you be feeling unwell, we ask that you refrain from coming to our program spaces. Programs continued to be offered online, via telephone and in person. Staff are available via appointment.   MEMO

Virtual/telephone support continues and protocols are in place to resume in-home in person volunteer visiting and 1:1 sessions. Staff is available via appointment

UPDATE 2022-08-27

Our virtual/telephone support continues and we are putting protocols in place to resume in-home volunteer visiting in early fall. As well, we will be offering an in-person bereavement group for those who wish to connect face-to-face. We will be offering both virtual and in-person client programming.

UPDATE 2022-03-25

We are all looking forward to getting back to our new normal, "Hope House 2.0", whatever that may look like. The past two years have been both difficult but also enlightening as we’ve discovered new ways to support our clients and each other. The virtual care we've been providing was unthinkable prior to the pandemic, but we've seen how beneficial it has been, and will continue to be, for many. The current plan is to continue to offer both virtual and in-person client programming moving forward. As well, staff will be returning to the office – in a hybrid model (split between working from home and working in the office).

Over the coming months, we'll be cautiously re-introducing some in-person programming, with proper safety measures in place. Currently, we're making some modifications to our physical space in an attempt to safely accommodate our clients and volunteers as well as our staff team which has grown to ten. More details will be shared in the future. Our latest flyer: Hope House at Home

UPDATE 2021-01-03

COVID-19 has changed our everyday world and has contributed to feelings of stress and worry,  especially to those diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, family caregivers and the bereaved. The Hope House team remains committed to caring for our community and supporting wellbeing during this difficult time.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to be monitored closely and the health and safety of our clients, families, volunteers and staff continues to be paramount. The COVID-20 Guidance document from the Ministry of Health states: "Hospices offering community support services have largely navigated to virtual delivery of these programs and should continue to do so, to reduce the potential risk of COVID-19 transmission between patients and hospice staff."

We recognize that this it has been very difficult not seeing each other, however, for the time being we will continue to suspend in-person support until we can be sure of the safety and wellbeing of all. In the meantime, we continue to offer Hope House at Home virtual programming - including wellness groups, virtual complementary therapy, bereavement groups, volunteer visits (telephone), etc."
